When Louise and Alec reached out to me about eloping at this location with plans to do it during peak larch season, I knew it was an elopement that would be one of my favorites. We hiked 10 miles in the cold, wind, and snow for their elopement and hiked back down the mountain dark. These two were just so excited to get married among the larches that it didn’t stop them from enjoying their day.
Larches are rare and only exist in some high alpine areas throughout the Northern-most states of the US (they exist in other countries too). Larches change from bright green to golden yellow and orange as their needles die. There’s something so magical about them and it makes total sense why L & A chose to plan their elopement around the peak season for them, which is usually just a two week window in October. October in Washington is always hit or miss with weather, so it was no surprise that we got snow! Snow wasn’t even in the forecast but we had snow pretty much all day! L & A were such troopers, as it was super cold for their elopement, but it truly was magical with the snow and larches and we kept remembering that rain would be WAY worse!
Overall it was an absolutely stunning and magical elopement and I’m so lucky that I was able to join them and photograph their day.
