Artist Point Elopement

Caroline and Matt reached out to me just four days before their elopement if you can believe it! They knew they wanted to elope near Mt. Baker and they also knew their weather window was super short as it was October and roads were starting to close in the area! We picked the day with the best weather window, planned a timeline, and met up at their airbnb a few days later! C & M knew they didn’t want to worry about their dogs during their actual elopement so we took some quick portraits with their cute pups before heading out to the trails!

We lucked out with decent weather and just a small dusting of snow on the trail. Mt. Shuksan was hiding for most of the day, but Mt. Baker was on full display!

The road up to Artist Point was closed, so we made the 2 mile hike up to their ceremony location, where we had the entire area to ourselves! As Caroline and Matt exchanged their vows the lighting (and views) above them changed every few minutes, from cloudy and moody to bright and sunny. It was gorgeous!

Snowy Artist Point Elopement Picnic

After their ceremony, C and M setup their picnic looking out at what normally is a full view of Mt. Shuksan. As the clouds moved Mt. Shuksan would peek out in different spots each time. Caroline surprised Matt with his favorite bourbon and a baby jersey for his football team because they are also expecting! After having cake and hot cider (highly recommend bringing a warm beverage for colder weather) Matt and Caroline took some pregnancy announcement photos with their ultrasound photos! Right after this it got drastically colder! So cold Caroline had to take off her jackets in small spurts and we kept their adventure portraits as simple and quick as possible! Despite the cold, we had a great time exploring and still got some gorgeous photos as the clouds turned into cotton candy.

Once the sun officially set it got dark pretty quickly and we made our way back down the trail (or road in this case). We took the trail slowly because it was super icy where there was no snow. I actually ended up falling on my lens and completely broke it, but it happens! It was still an unforgettable day and we truly lucked out with gorgeous weather. Congrats to Caroline and Matt! It was truly so wonderful to spend the day with them and capture their elopement!
