Mt. Baker Backpacking Elopement

Mt. Baker Backpacking Elopement

This is actually my own elopement! My sweet friend and talented photographer, Ali Beck photographed our day. We met up at the Artist Point parking lot and headed off on our hike to find our campsites! We chose to have a mini backpacking elopement so that we could really just enjoy the beautiful place we were in and add sense of adventure to our day. Once we made it down to the lake and campsites we setup our tents and Garrett and I headed down to the lake to cool off in the water and then write our vows in our vow books. Being able to write our vows while sitting next to each other in such a gorgeous place really set the tone for the day. It was a beautiful moment that I’m so glad we decided to include in our day. After that it was time to get ready! I started doing my hair and makeup and my best friend Mckenzie helped me with the finishing touches of babies breath in my hair! Then I stripped down in the woods and got into my dress. Ali and her husband Sid, who was our videographer, helped us do a first look by the lake as well.

After our first look we started hiking back up to the spot we chose for our ceremony location. It was absolutely gorgeous and it was golden hour so the ceremony photos turned out incredibly beautiful! It was such a dramatic and beautiful scene. We were both in tears and I just remember feeling like everything was so incredibly perfect. We invited some of our closest friends to officiate and witness our ceremony as well. McKenzie wrote the most beautiful ceremony speech for us and our dear friend Marlena played the Ukulele and sang our first dance song. Evan watched watched Kai so he wouldn’t be too distracting during our ceremony. It was everything we wanted and so incredibly beautiful!

After our ceremony we took sunset portraits, popped champagne, and then sat down to read letters from our family. We both really enjoyed being able to read the letters together and hear the sweet and nostalgic words our family had written to us.

Once darkness had really set, we hiked back down to our campsite with headlamps. We had dinner and shared wine, brownies, and great conversation over some luci lantern light. It was the elopement day for us. I wouldn’t change a single thing about our elopement and how we did it. We had so much fun and we feel so blessed that Mother Nature gave us such a gorgeous day.
