Foggy Mt. Rainier National Park Elopement
How to start this blog…I could talk about how we changed locations due to wildfire and smoke, or how there was unexpectedly complete white-out of fog at our plan B location… but what I really want to do is highlight these two! They came from Colorado to elope in Washington State and we had an absolute incredible time getting to know them, hearing their story, witnessing their joy and positivity despite their elopement looking different from what they planned for… it was truly an honor to capture their love and witness their day. Garrett also filmed their day and their elopement video is coming soon!
In all honesty I was dreading moody days for elopements. I had been so lucky to have mostly “ideal” weather for nearly every elopement I had the privilege to document. Embracing the fog and whiteout conditions was hard for me to do, but I’m so thankful these two showed up with positive vibes and stoke to get married! They reminded me that at the end of the day the view doesn’t matter. It’s the love and joy that matters and it’s evident these two share a lot of that. And because of their day and several more, I now LOVE moody days. While it can be a bummer to not see the views you originally came for, it really shifts the focus on what truly matters, which is really beautiful to experience and capture.

“Where do I even begin!? From our initial call to our actual elopement day Sierra was an absolute dream!
The idea of planning an elopement while living states away felt overwhelming. Even after making the decision to elope there were many decisions ahead of us - where to go and what to do. Thankfully, Sierra provided just the right scaffolding and pace to help us put what lived in our minds onto paper.
Sierra was on top of making sure we had all of the correct permits as well as paperwork for our big day. She was also a huge help in figuring out what to pack for our hiking elopement.
As the day got closer, smoke caused by wildfires threw our plans for a loop. Sierra brilliantly navigated the changes that needed to be made as well as providing options for alternative plans.
I can not rave enough about how comforting Sierra made a very unpredictable situation.
While we had talked to Sierra on the phone, we met her and her wonderful husband Garrett in person for the first time on our wedding day and immediately felt like we were with friends we've known for years.
The hike checked all the boxes that we had envisioned during the planning process and more. With Sierra and Garrett's support, we were able to truly soak in every minute and by the end of the day our faces hurt from smiling and laughing so much.
The day went by so quickly but we've been able to relive it every time we look at our photos. Sierra and Garrett did such an amazing job capturing not just the big moments, but also the small and beautiful moments that the day brought. We truly cannot wait to see the rest of our gallery and video!
