Mt. Rainier National Park Elopement

Mt. Rainier National Park Elopement

Christine and Benny’s Mt. Rainier National Park elopement was incredible. After last minute changing of locations (due to weather), a wildfire going right by their Airbnb and causing evacuations in the town they were staying in, and a morning full of fog and rain Benny and Christine were fully prepared for a day that looked a lot different than originally planned. The mountain hadn’t been out in days, the webcam showed a full white out fog on the mountain an hour before we were supposed to meet, and all we were hoping for is some visibility of distant hillsides/mountains. Little did we know we would get a full view of the mountain.

We started the day by exploring an old growth forest I scouted the day before and C & B enjoyed a picnic with delicious items from Pikes Place Market.Right as we drove up to see if we wanted to hike up the trail I had suggested, we saw a peek of the mountain and also big stormy clouds coming our way. Then it started to rain. We decided to go for it anyway because there were small snippets of blue sky and we had decent visibility. We packed our rain coats and as soon as we started hiking the rain stopped. Most of Mt. Rainier/Tahoma came into view as we got closer to the top and it stayed like that through their ceremony and most of the evening until right before we were about to head down with headlamps and lanterns.

It doesn’t always end up like this, but it definitely was an amazing reminder to be so thankful and giddy when it does. We were incredibly lucky and Christine even got to see a rainbow which she may have been equally excited about! And to top of our luck, as we were hiking down the mountain, we ran into the only hiker we saw after their ceremony and asked them to sign as a witness! They were stoked to sign and it made for the end of a perfect day.

Congrats and thank you to Christine and Benny! I belly laughed so much during your elopement. It was definitely an amazing day and I feel so lucky to have been a part of it.
